The Immersive WeArePickleball Camp Experience

To play your best pickleball, you need:

  1. The ability to hit the shots necessary to construct an effective rally.
  2. The knowledge of what shot to hit at each stage during a rally.
  3. The physical ability and mindset to focus on the rally at hand.

WeArePickleball Immersive Camps are designed around these core pillars: Mechanical, Strategic, and Athletic.

You will improve your shot-making and importantly, shot decision-making. As a result, you'll leave camp feeling more comfortable and confident on the court, and playing better pickleball.

WeArePickleball camps are different from ordinary camps

Besides the WeArePickleball Camp Guarantee*?

  • 8:1 player to head pro ratio (not to assistant instructors). WeArePickleball camps are close-knit affairs. We get to know you and you get to know us. This allows us to customize your experience to what will most help you along your path. This is your camp experience.
  • WeArePickleball camps are the only ones teaching the Three Pillars of Pickleball™ - Mechanical, Strategic, and Athletic. We respect your intelligence and the curiosity to learn that brings you to a pickleball camp. The camp is not just about drills and hitting. We share with you pickleball’s framework. You will learn the pieces that have been missing from your game.
  • We approach you as a pickleball athlete and will give you the tools you need not just to hit a better ball, but also to have a fuller relationship with this awesome sport. You will learn how to move better on the court, minimize injury, and even think about the game differently.
  • You will head back to your local courts a changed player and, indeed, person. You will see the game differently than you did before camp, with a fuller understanding of what you (and the other players on the court) are trying to accomplish on the court. You will be more confident and comfortable knowing that you now know the game. And the next steps on your improvement path will be laid before you.

PLUS...You Already KNOW and Trust Your Coaches

Why would you trust a stranger with your game?

CJ

Hey, I'm CJ — pickleball princess, golfer girl and skier chick, cat mama to Ralph and Shirley (yes, Happy Days), and unapologetic Star Trek addict. Since I started coaching more than three decades ago, one thing has remained the same: My commitment to see students not as they are but as what they can become and to move heaven and earth to help them realize their untapped potential. You should know that when it comes to helping pickleball players over 50 live their best lives on and off the courts, I'm an expert. Besides being a pickleball coach, I'm a personal trainer and weight management, specialist. Good pickleball is not just technique; it's the mind and body working holistically.

Tony

Hola. My name is Tony. I’m a former tennis player – 40+ years. When not thinking about or studying pickleball, I like to travel with my wife Jill, especially if it's in Matilda (our RV). In 2016, shortly after learning pickleball, I played with my friend Tom in the Open division at the first US Open in Naples, Florida. That morning we learned just how complicated the game can be and how far we still had to go. Since then, I have been on a quest, both for myself and for other players I have met along the way. For myself, it has been to learn everything; figure out each angle to this sport. For others, as an IPTPA Certified Master Professional I want to help them see what I see, to know the game the way I know the game.

*WeArePickleball Camp Guarantee

Frequently Asked Questions

The camp is most suitable for players from 2.0 up to a 4.5.

Our focus will be ensuring fundamentals are there, getting past 4 on average, correcting mechanical stroke errors, and providing game strategy.

The objective is that a player mastering these skills will have the tools to play at a benchmark 4.0 level and beyond.

If you can play a game you're ready camp!

We’ve found that it’s better to learn the correct habits from the beginning than unlearn bad habits. When you understand the strategies and concepts you’ll make real progress and won’t get distracted by all the bad information online and on the courts.

As to your ability, our camps are perfect from novices player to 4.0. At our last camp we had several novices and with the skills you describe you'll fit right in. One of the reasons we keep the camp sizes small is so that we can personalize the experience to each participant. We customize the camp as much as possible so that each player can continue improving.

That said, we cover the basics. Pickleball is a game of fundamentals. Nothing particularly fancy. Just executing better than your opponent over and over. We spend the majority of time on the first four shots of the game.

Don't pass up this experience because you don't think you are good enough. YOU ARE! You've taken the most challenging step reading this far. Now take the next one and come and join us at camp.

If you have more specific ability questions email us at camps@wearepickleball.com

It is hard to say 100%. We're sure there are concepts that we will cover that are different than how you may be seeing the game. These concepts will expand your view of playing pickleball, constructing rallies, etc.

That said, we also cover the basics. Pickleball is a game of fundamentals. Nothing particularly fancy. Just executing better than your opponent over and over.

We've had several solid 4.0/4.5 players at our camps and they've always walked away with an expanded knowledge of the game and some tips to improve her play.

We customize the camp as much as possible so that each player can continue improving.

For example, when explaining the concept of where to hit a return of serve, it may sound one way to a 2.0-3.0 level player and when working with the 4.0/4.5 player we gave her instruction appropriate for her level - threat identification and movement.

Please don’t give up. VIPickleball camp's small intimate class size is designed to give you time to interact with both CJ and Tony and provide you the instruction you need to improve as a player.

We make it easy to understand by breaking our instruction down into the We Are Pickleball Success Path Pillars, Mechanical, Strategic, and Athletic.

During the camp, we'll help you understand the technique, strategy and develop a plan to improve after you leave the camp.

From The Wildwood Independent
by Margee Lopez

I recently had the good fortune to attend a three-day-long pickleball camp in Incline Village, NV hosted by two fabulous coaches with WeArePickleball. From the enthusiasm and energy displayed by CJ and Tony, one would never guess that we were the third group in under ten days to benefit from this great experience. CJ and Tony started WeArePickleball one year ago, streamlining it to be an online outreach for individuals interested in improving their game. They have some novel techniques and approaches which I will share as I describe my camp experience.
